Led by Coach John Savage, UCLA wins their very FIRST Baseball National Championship, and the school’s Nation-leading 109th NCAA Title
UCLA has finally done it — A National Championship in Baseball… and the Bruins made it look easy. UCLA SWEPT through the College World Series, beating Mississippi State twice in a row in the Finals to clinch the crown. Game 2 was no contest, with the Bulldogs getting shut out and blown out, 8-0.
Despite the eight-run outburst, UCLA really got it done in the Postseason with superior Pitching and Defense. Starter Adam Plutko won the CWS Most Outstanding Player Award, Starter Nick Vander Tuig pitched a gem in Game 2, and Closer David Berg set the all-time NCAA Record by getting his 24th Save of the season in Game 1. Offensively, Eric Filia got 5 more RBI on Tuesday night, giving him 7 of the Bruins’11 Runs Batted in during the Finals.
After a long, long time not being a factor in College Baseball, the Bruins have now been to the World Series 3 times in 4 years, and have finally attained the Title that has eluded them forever, until right now.
So… while UCLA celebrates a National Championship in a major Sport, usc fans have three recent stories to try to play down: Another Seattle Seahawk was busted for performance-enhancing drugs, bringing Pete the Cheat Carroll’s total to 6 busted drug-laden cheaters in just 3 years (which supports the theory that he encouraged the rampant steroid use reputed to be going on during his tenure at usc); Trojan Assistant Football Coach Ed Orgeron got called out for calling a trojan player a mother-f*cker just because he wanted to miss some practice time in order to (gasp) ATTEND CLASS; And finally, a usc professor, Walter Lee Williams, was busted, after making the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List, for having sex with 14-year old boys.
SOOOOOOO glad to be a Bruin — and NOT a trojan — right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you going to the celebration at Jackie Robinson stadium tomorrow at 12:30? Bruin fans in the area need to show them some love.
T-H’s Note: I think it’s at 2pm, and I’ll try.
