UCLA derails AZUSA-Pacific with 111-61 rout, as fans start to board the Love Train
The Basketball Bruins opened their Exhibition season last night, with a FIFTY-point thrashing of the Cougars from Azusa-Pacific in Pauley Pavilion. The game marked the debut of last year’s High School Player of the Year, Kevin Love, and of course, since Love is related to one of the Beach Boys, he had no problem handling a team with “Pacific” in their name.
In only 21 minutes of playing time, Love had a (Pacific Blue) Whale of a first game, throwing out a double-double, with 15 Points and 12 Rebounds. Josh Shipp added 20 Points, and Darren Collison guided the Bruins’ attack with 7 Assists. And if you were wondering, Russell Westbrook started over Michael Roll and scored 14, and Roll responded with 16 Points off the bench. Coach Ben Howland alluded to the fact that Roll might be better-suited to a 6th Man role this year, because he can come in firing, and add an instant scoring spark to the Offense.
Below are 3 more photos from the “game.” But if you think 50 points is a big margin in Basketball, did you see what incoming Bruin Tailback Milton Knox’s Birmingham Patriots did last night in Football? They won 82-0. That’s EIGHTY-TWO to nothing. What is it with teams called “Patriots” and POURING IT ON this season??
