They’re Back, Jack –After they Do It Again against Houston, the Bruins climb to #19 in the National Rankings, while Reelin’ sc’s loss to Steely Stanford sees them tumble 12 spots down to unlucky #13
Rikki Don’t Lose That Number? Well, Ricky Neuheisel never had to worry about losing a #19 ranking while at UCLA, because during his whole tenure there, he never saw the inside of the Top 20. But after just three weeks at the helm of the Bruins, Jim Mora has cracked the Top 20, and has his sights set on loftier goals.
With every win that Mora’s team adds to their record, it underlines just how important Coaching, Assistant Coaching, Game Planning, and Attitude are to a College Football Program. The Bruins seem like a whole new team, easily capable of running their winning streak to four this week, when the Beavers visit the Rose Bowl on Saturday as an 11-point underdog.
And with sc faltering against Stanford and falling all the way down to #13 in the polls, some Bruin fans are even thinking the unthinkable: That UCLA could even knock off their hated Rival this year. The Bruins are #2 in the Nation in Total Offense, and with the Defense continuing to improve, they COULD compete with just about anyone. But based on the still-relevant gap in talent, it would take a season-long trojan emotional meltdown — from already failing to live up to their expectations — for UCLA to be able to return the Victory Bell to Westwood.
First things first — The Bruins just need to take it one step at a time, eliminate some mental errors, like Torian White’s three consecutive penalties on three consecutive plays (talk about meltdowns), and put together a complete game on Saturday, to stay on their upward ascent.
Speaking of being on a roll, the UCLA Spirit Squad has been superlative for a decade, and here are 33 more photos that prove that the status quo is still being upheld.
