Angels of (Lord Have) Mercy — I don’t want to Harp on it, but when you say Halo to this Heavenly pictorial of Celestial Bodies, it should give you Wings

If you were an L.A. Baseball fan in the 70’s, you might remember that the California Angels had a theme song on the radio that went:  “California Angels, A-OKAY, California Angels, A-OKAY…”  Well, those Angels are now the California Angels of Anaheim, but they aren’t California’s ONLY angels.

In Palm Desert, California last weekend, about 400 of the most gorgeous girls in the World congregated to battle for supremacy in the world of Beauty Pageants.  About 50% of each pageant was dedicated to Swimsuit Competition, and today about 100% of this article is dedicated to Swimsuit Competition.  Here are 25 photos taken at the Miss CaliforniaUSA and Miss California Teen USA pageants, ending with a shot of the girls representing UCLA and USC, as well as two pics of Katie Wee, former Bruin Spirit Star, who made the Final 20 in this, her very first pageant.

"CALIFORNIA ANGELS, A-OK" was published on January 11th, 2012 and is listed in Non-Rivalry News, Non-Rivalry Photos, UCLA/usc/Cheerleader Photos.

Why in the world are you using the phrase, “California Angels A-OK”?
    It doesn’t make sense.
That’s the title of MLB Angels fight song.

CALIFORNIA ANGELS A-OK (Official fight song of the Angels)
Lyrics by Shirley and Dick Winslow Music by Dick Winslow (ASCAP)
    (C) 1966 Walt Disney Music Co., Burbank, Cal.

[T-H’s Note: Yes, that was the whole point. That was a song I used to sing along with in the late 60’s, and the title was a perfect fit for this article, about beautiful, angelic girls from California. Get it? I often conjure up old pop culture sayings and references, and re-imagine them in a new, current context to comment on the story that I’m writing about. Does this explanation help make sense of it? Please look at some of my other articles to get a feel for what I do.]
