Die Hard with a Vengeance

Welcome to the party, pal!

Kicks and Picks:  Die-hard Bruins Kai Forbath and A. Verner get some preseason AA recognition, and are 12 steps away from having it mean something

It’s more than just a Rumer.*  Where there is a Will(is), there is a way.  Despite coming off a 4-8 season, the UCLA Bruins start this year with 2 players from last year who are already the best in the Nation at what they do.  Kai Forbath is now — according to ESPN and Sports Illustrated — the best Placekicker in America, and ESPN says that Alterraun Verner is one the top 2 Cornerbacks in the NCAA right now.

Forbath will now be kicking under the added pressure of lofty expectations, but with the expected improvement in the Offense, the Bruins won’t be so reliant on Field Goals.  Meanwhile, Verner will be opposing QBs’ main  focus, in terms of where NOT to throw the ball.  Therefore, he might not get a lot of Interceptions, but he will force those QB’s into bad or risky throws to the other side of the field.

Forbath and Verner aren’t the only Bruins receiving love lately.  Brian Price is considered one of the best Defensive Linemen in the Pac-10, if not in the whole Country, while Playboy tabbed Christian Yount as the best Long Snapper in the USA.  And Playboy knows snappers.  Meanwhile, Kevin Prince is seemingly earning his praise on the practice field, where his leadership is apparent, and his ability is a marked improvement for UCLA.  The Offensive Line and Running Back Milton Knox are also getting some notice as Fall Practice continues.

Speaking of getting some notice, here are some more “new” photos from the ’07 Notre Dame game, worth noticing.  But first one quick note:  *Rumer Willis is totally cool, professional, and down-to-earth.  And that’s no rumor.

“Ooops, no bullets.”

Do bears bear? Do bees be?

Bruce was Bruno before Borat was Bruno.

Just the fax, ma’am.

Only met Scout briefly, but she seemed cool too.

The point is, don’t make negative assumptions that reality can’t cash.

I just hope she doesn’t mind being mentioned, even though it was all totally positive.

I mean, for all I know, she would prefer to cultivate a different persona. So I should just shut up about it. Of course, this isn’t Perez Hilton’s website; This is well below the radar, except when usc threatens to sue me over t-shirts.

Die Hard Bruin fans understand that UCLA is within Striking Distance of returning to elite status and beating the 12 Monkees pretending to be The Last Boy Scouts.

Holy Hudson Hawk, your time is running out — only one more photo after this one…

Happy Trails, Hans.

LOL at the title T-H! Epic! I don’t know how you come up with the stuff but all I can say is keep ’em coming! (Die Hard is one of my favorite movies.)

Great pics as usual. Would love to see AV and Kai make the final list. Heck, I’d love any Bruin to do that.

Good take on Bruce Willis too. When I saw the Allman Brothers in May, he came out on stage and jammed on his harp with the band. He Rocked! When the song was over, he waved to the crowd, shook hands with the band and exited. It was all about the music.
