WHEN YOU’VE GOT LOVE, THE WHOLE WORLD IS JEALOUS

Funny — He doesn’t LOOK Bru-ish.

Hey — Some of our BEST Friends are Bru-ish.

POY Vey:  While an envious Nation still has the Chutzpah to be Farklempt over three Unorthodox calls, King of the Bru’s Kevin Love is Chosen as Pac-10 Player of the Year (“Disputed by no one, this call should be”)

There’s still a lot of crying going on out there, but deep down everyone knows:  UCLA has an amazing team of Stars who never quit, and who will be a force to be reckoned with during The Big Dance.  The part about “Stars” was confirmed by the other nine Coaches of the Pac-10, who yesterday voted Kevin Love as not only Freshman of the Year, but also Player of the Year for the Pac-10 Conference, and honored every other member of the Bruins’ Starting Five as well.

Ben Howland was not allowed to vote for Love or any other Bruin, so all the praise is coming from the opponents, who for the most part could not contain Love.  Kevin has scored in Double Figures in every single game, and is averaging a Double-Double.  He is the only Freshman to get the POY, except for Shareef Abdul-Rahim from Cal.  Love also was an Honorable Mention for the All-Defensive Team.

But Love wasn’t a one-man team;  Russell Westbrook won Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, and was joined on the All-Defensive Team by Darren Collison, who made 2nd Team All Pac-10, while Westbrook made 3rd Team All Pac-10.  Josh Shipp and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute got Honorable Mentions for All Pac-10, and Luc also got an Honorable Mention for the Defensive Team.  THAT was the most obvious SCREW-UP on this list:  NO ONE besides Westbrook has played better Defense this year than Luc – definitely not Taj Gibson, who was GIVEN Luc’s spot on the honorary roster.  He can block shots, but his grasp of overall team Defense doesn’t rival Luc’s.

Below are 16 photos – First some Love for Love, then some other game action, then, some more Love for our True Loves (who most of you probably come for)…

“Is this a Basketball?”

Love, Lorenzo, and The Den celebrate the Mira-CAL.

“Oy gevalt! I’ve got schpilkis in my genectigizoid!”

Parting the C to lead the Bruins to the Promised Land.

“No Offense” to Mata-Real, but this knee injury is how close the Bruins came to having “No Offense.”

If Love WERE to get injured, it would be up to Luc to “get taller” in a hurry.

Did Howland talk to Westbrook after his MISSED dunk? On Saturday, Russell LAID IN two shots that SHOULD HAVE BEEN SportsCenter Moments

All-Pac-10 2nd Team Point Guard, supported by the ALL-WORLD 1ST TEAM UCLA DANCE TEAM.

“A Fistful of Yen” (As in: “We yen for thee”)

Love those Blu-ish American Princess Socks

“A waist is a horrible thing to mind.”

Just how DOES Marco find the camera lens from 50 feet away?

Mollie? Please, please, please CONTINUE this New Tradition of pre-game poster-signing and ESPECIALLY the outdoor posing next year!!

And btw, SCREW that jerk and his 20? — I hope this gorgeous photo makes him feel ashamed, for displaying that kind of attitude in front of innocent, impressionable students.

Forget the caption - Just click to enlarge already! Zoom, zoom, zoom.

Now THIS one ought to end up on some Desktops, and maybe in a couple of photo albums?

    Dear All BeatSC Fans,

I have sent a thank you note to the head of our Spirit Group.

I think it’s a good idea to show our appreciation for these girls, especially the Dance Team.

You can email Mollie Vehling and her email is mvehling@saonet.ucla.edu

Here’s a copy of my Letter:

    Dear Mollie,

I am a UCLA Alumnus, Class of 2003 and continue to be a proud supporter of all things Bruin.

I would like to take this opportunity and ask you to forward my complete appreciation to our Spirit Squad. As another year will be coming to a close, they once again done an excellent job representing our school.

I would especially like to commend our Dance Team. They are truly a source of pride for myself and for all my colleagues who have attended UCLA. They exude spirit and pride in a way that only their group can.

We always enjoy seeing them in games and being featured on TV during games. They have made those UCLA Jerseys and Socks iconic (my friends and I joke that #21 is one lucky player).

In addition, they also put up the best dancing routines. We love how they mix it up and give us something different all the time (EVERYONE is still talking about that halftime routine versus Cal…GREAT JOB!)

As our Basketball team continues to build on our dynasty and with our Football program setting on a new exciting journey, I am glad that we have a Dance team that meets, if not exceeds, all the greatness that our school has come to represent.

Again, please forward my appreciation and gratitude to the team.

And I forgot to email here one other thing, but I wrote a quick follow-up email.

This one’s for you t-h…I give you mad props.

    Here’s what I wrote in a follow-up email:

    Dear Mollie,

One other thing I forgot to mention in my previous email that I wanted to share with you.

There is a website called http://www.beatsc.com that has become an unofficial meeting place for everyone who are fans of the Spirit Squad, especially the Dance Team (although I’m sure you might be aware of it).

For many fans who aren’t able to come to the games, this website has been a godsend. The moderator provides us with beautiful photos and flattering photos of the team and he has been a great advocate of the Spirit Squad. I know many of us can’t wait to check his website the day after football and basketball games.

I just thought I would share this great website that has been nothing but a great fansite of the Spirit Squad.

    Keep up the good work!

The Dance Team and Spirit Squad really adds to the LOVE at UCLA. Not only is Kevin LOVE the Pac 10 Player of the Year but the Dance team has to be the Pac 10 Dance team of the century.
