UCLA “NEW YAWK-BLOCKS” THE REDHAWKS

Miami, OHIO PLAYERS get A Taste of Honey before their New York-bound Rollercoaster gets derailed, 64-59

The Bruins are Broadway-bound.  UCLA got a big scare from the Miami, Ohio Redhawks, but came out with a tough, 64-59 victory, sending them to the tournament semi-finals at Madison Square Garden, against Michigan.

Thursday night’s game was close throughout, with no one leading by more than about a half-dozen points.  That kept the Bruin veterans on the court, and kept the Freshmen on the bench.  Darren Collison and Josh Shipp led the way with 16 points each, and in crunchtime, James Keefe hit a huge Three and Alfred Aboya hit two free throws in a row.

The Redhawks had a chance to tie the game in the last minute with a Three, but it was long — making them say “So long” to their dream of a trip to the Big Apple.  Sorry, no time for more details (but the weekend is almost here).
