LOVE TO LOVE, BIG LOVE TO BIGFOOT, LOVE TO JET, LOVE TO DYE

Kevin Love is “most underrated,” Theotis “Bigfoot” Brown is inducted into the UCLA Hall of Fame, and Jonathan “Jet-ski” Franklin & Tony Dye make National Watch Lists

[CORRECTED:  7/10/11, with my sincere apologies to Jonathan Franklin and Derrick Coleman]

While America celebrated Independence Day, four different Bruins independently received four different honors.  A website called bestonlinecolleges.com, who has been publishing National lists that often honor a Bruin, distinguished another UCLA star as being #1.  Check out this link  http://www.bestonlinecolleges.com/blog/2011/10-underrated-nba-youngsters-who-are-sure-to-become-stars/ to see that Kevin Love tops their list of most underrated young NBA players destined to be stars.  Of course they realize that Kevin already made the All-Star team last year, but since he barely made the squad, and since he plays in the Media-ignored black hole known as Minnesota, he still earned his numero uno ranking on their list.

Also receiving some much-deserved credit this week is former Running Back for some great UCLA teams, Theotis Brown.  Brown was as tough as any Bruin RB before or since, and one of the biggest, bruising ballcarriers ever to line up deep behind a Bruin QB.  Fans will remember him as “Bigfoot,” thanks to his legendarily large feet… and you know what that means.

Speaking of glowing members of UCLA’s Football tradition, two CURRENT Bruins just got placed on Watch Lists for big-time, National Awards.  Running Back Jonathan Franklin made the list for the Maxwell Award, which will recognize the Country’s most outstanding player, and Safety Tony Dye got the nod for the Bednarik Award list, which selects the Nation’s best Defensive player.

Congratulations to all four great Bruins!
