Arena Dog Chow — Bruins make mush of the hot Dawgs, as they say good riddance to the Sports Arena with a thrilling 75-69 come-from-behind victory, outscoring Washington (who was 13-2 in their last 15 games) 20-9 in the last 12 minutes and 6-0 in the final minute
The Bruins’ next home game will be in Pauley Pavilion, and no one will miss the Sports Arena. That being said, the Bruins capped off their run in the decaying building by completing an impressive sweep over the Washington schools. On Saturday morning, they battled back from 9 down to defeat the formerly first-place Huskies 75-69.
Led by SENIOR Lazeric Jones, as well as Tyler Lamb, Josh Smith, and Travis Wear, UCLA overcame a first half in which they gave up a whopping 47 points. They trailed at the break by 3, but came out and tied the game up right after intermission. Then the game see-sawed, with Washington usually holding a small lead. But the Bruins finally tightened their Defense, and that enabled them to push ahead. A few key Steals by Lamb, and some Offensive rebounds by Smith and the Wears helped turn the tide. It was David Wear’s putback in the final minute that gave the Bruins a lead that they never relinquished, as Jones swished two Free Throws to ice it.
Below are FIFTY photos from the game. Click on them to enlarge them, and stay tuned this week for another NINETY photos, to be posted very soon. Unfortunately, I don’t have time tonight to fully caption all the photos, or to go more in depth about the game. Hopefully, I will add more photos, and more commentary in the next couple of days, before UCLA plays u$c in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Wednesday.
