The Walking Dead Bruins fail to show up in San Diego, as Baylor absolutely kills them 49-26 to take the Holiday Bowl
They held the Holiday Bowl in San Diego last night, and UCLA sold out its allotment of 11,000 tickets. And 11,000 Bruins showed up, but the 50 in uniform didn’t. Before fans had even settled in, Baylor led the game 21-0, and it didn’t get much better after that. The Bears dominated every facet of the game, controlled the trenches, and annihilated the Bruins 49-26. UCLA was never really in it, as their Running game never materialized, and the Passing game was not efficient enough to compensate. Meanwhile, Baylor did whatever they wanted on Offense, with both their Running Backs finding big holes to roam through, and their QB finding wide open Receivers downfield.
This was no contest from the beginning. Bruin fans were starting to depart at halftime, down 35-10. I never leave early, so I stuck it out to the bitter end… but mainly because I had seats right in front of the best Spirit Squad in the Country… and I don’t mean Baylor’s.
Below are 40 photos from the game and pre-game Bruin Bash. There are another 140 Cheerleader photos that I will be posting over the next two weeks. If you like SARAH, stay tuned — Sarah was in front of me for much of the game, so there will be a LOT of Sarah shots coming soon.
SPECIAL THANKS TO MOLLIE — She went out of her way to help me get in to the sold out Bruin Bash party, enabling me to take and share all of these pre-game photos. I owe you one, Mollie!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!
- Fauria TD catch — UCLA’s only meaningful score all night
- Early play: Franklin with running room — an occurrence that became exceedingly rare as the night wore on
- Hundley had room, but was way too reluctant to take advantage of it
- He prefers to throw, and even though Jerry Johnson FINALLY SHOWED UP, it still wasn’t close to being enough
- Hundley is still a stud, but without a Running Game, the passing attack was not efficient.
- Still an AMAZING Freshman year for Hundley, with better results on the horizon
- Usually, even after a completion, Baylor stuffed the Bruin attack.
- Meanwhile, everything was clicking for the Baylor Offense as usual, including when the QB had to scramble.
- Baylor KILLED the Bruins legitimately. That being said, uncalled Holdings and late hits didn’t help UCLA’s cause.
- Holding or not, Lache Seastrunk couldn’t be contained
- And neither could his back-up Glasco Martin, who scored 3 times, as Baylor kicked (gl)ass all night.
- The Bruin D did have its moments, as Eric Kendricks continued to impress. Anthony Barr and Andrew Abbott were the other reasons Baylor didn’t score 100.
- Datone Jones also put on some pressure, but Baylor dominated the trenches on both sides of the ball. UCL:A could not run at all, nor could they stop the run.
- The Navy Seals parachuted in to open the festivities.
- Perfect stand-up landings. The Seals — unlike the Bruins — know how to EXECUTE.
- AT LEAST WE STILL HAVE THE VICTORY BELL!
- Three straight losses to end the season, but at least usc wasn’t one of them.

It sure did take a holiday… like Club Dead or something… oh well… still the best season we’ve had in a long, long time. Just need to get more players and get the work done. Let’s do it!
Thanks T-H for all the pics and write-ups this season. Here’s to many more! GO BRUINS!

A very embarrassing game for us! Our offense was horrible. What a shame that we didn’t show up to play being that we were on national TV. Terrible game to watch.

The players all looked terrible, well, mostly they looked in slow motion, but when the Bruin cheerleaders got airtime, they looked spectacular.
