The Night of the Living Deadtime Stories — The highly-anticipated Kids’ TV Series premieres on Nickelodeon this Thursday, October 3rd at 8pm (5pm on Nickelodeon EAST, so if you have DirecTV, you can watch it before the UCLA game, otherwise, DVR it at 8!!!)
Do you love UCLA? Do you adore the UCLA Cheerleaders? Do you appreciate the photos of the girls that I have been bringing you for the last ten years? Do you want to support me and this website without donating a single dime? Here’s your chance:
Please watch/record “Deadtime Stories” on Nickelodeon this Thursday night. Deadtime Stories is a scary/funny kids’ TV series, designed for 7-to-12 year olds, but enjoyable for whole families to watch together. It is a LIVE-ACTION (not a cartoon) production, starring Wizards of Waverly Place’s Jennifer Stone.
Every Thursday night in October, Nickelodeon will show two different episodes, one at 8pm, and another one at 8:30pm. If you have DirecTV, Nick West will show them at 8pm and 8:30pm, but Nick EastHD will show them three hours earlier, at 5pm and 5:30pm.
Why do I care so much about a kids’ TV show? Because I am a Co-Executive Producer of the pilot, and I worked on each episode of the entire series. So if you watch the show, or DVR it, you will be greatly helping this Bruin for Life, who has been supporting UCLA and specifically the UCLA Spirit Squad, with all my heart, for the last forty years (10 years with this website). The better the show does, the more able I will be to afford the continuing operation of this site.
Not only should you watch/record it — I am asking you to help me spread the word. Post it on Facebook, Tweet it, Instagram it, etc., etc. If you are on Facebook, you can find Deadtime Stories’ page, and “like” it. You can even “share” one of the trailers they have posted. On Twitter, you can re-tweet Deadtime Stories’ tweets. And if you know anyone with children around the ages of 7-12, please let them know that there is a great new show for them to get into.
Of course, my show’s premiere is opposite a UCLA Football game. I don’t expect any of my readers to miss one second of the game. But I do hope that if you have Cable, you will DVR Deadtime Stories, and watch it with your kids on Friday. Then, when they love it and want to see more, you can watch the rest of the episodes, every Thursday night for the whole month of October, culminating with two episodes on Halloween night.
Each episode starts with Jennifer Stone reading a Deadtime Stories Book to two kids. Deadtime Stories are REAL BOOKS, that you can buy, to encourage your kids to actually READ. Finally — a TV show that inspires children to read… just like Reading Rainbow. Fight childhood illiteracy — support Deadtime Stories.
After Jennifer’s intro (ala “The Princess Bride”), each episode delves into a story, starring an entirely new cast each time. The stories may include magic, ghosts, goblins, witches, beasts, spiders, monsters and more, with special effects galore, but no gore. Always funny, and not too scary for kids over 7.
Opening night’s episodes are “Invasion of the Appleheads,” and “Along Came a Spider.” The photos below include Jennifer Stone (on the poster), along with the adorable Jaidan Jiron & the handsome Kalama Epstein, who are the two talented stars of “Invasion of the Appleheads.”
Please watch, and promote, the show for me. I promise it will help your beloved UCLA Spirit Squad, because I will pump a lot of the profits right back into the Squad, via fundraisers and expanded coverage.
