.38 SPECIAL

nev13fb (98)cCaught up in U(CLA) — Hold on loosely as — in honor of the 38 straight points with which (now) #13 UCLA gunned down Nebraska — I fire your way 38 more Bruin Cheerleader pics that I shot at the Nevada game

UCLA fans are brimming with confidence right now, after watching the Bruins dispatch Nebraska in Lincoln on Saturday, 41-21.  UCLA has been elevated to #13 in the AP Rankings, while the Cornhuskers fell out of the Top 25.  Longtime followers of UCLA and the bandwagoners that have recently joined the party should beware — UCLA has played 4 halves of Football this year, and only half of those halves have been half-decent.  30 minutes of good play on a given afternoon or evening will not always get it done.  This Saturday night, the Bruins host the New Mexico State Sisters of Mercy, so one good quarter should have the game in the refrigerator.  But after this weekend, almost all the rest of the games will require 60 minutes of quality, focused performance.

If the Bruins follow the lead of their Defensive Star Anthony Barr, they should be in good shape.  Barr was named National Defensive Player of the Week (as well as Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week), after his stellar showing against Nebraska, where he tallied 11 Tackles, and forced THREE Fumbles.  He might not be able to repeat those numbers this week, because NM St. won’t have the ball that long, and Barr might not play much after Halftime, if the 42-point Favorite Bruins already have a huge lead.  While Barr is resting on the sidelines, it will be the UCLA Spirit Squad getting the real workout, performing routines after all 10 Bruin Touchdowns.

Here’s a glimpse of what you’re in for if you are coming on Saturday — and you SHOULD, since it will be easy to get tickets (because of the ultra-weak competition) — 38 photos of the Bruin Cheerleaders from the Nevada game.  As you can see — even if the game is a boring, un-suspenseful blowout, the UCLA Spirit Squad will make the event fully WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION.

Nice looking girls, but really not up to recent standards, are they?

[T-H’s Note: On the contrary, I think they are absolutely up to recent standards. I think the 2007-2009 era squads might have been a peak of sorts, but the new 2013 squad when compared to 2010-2012 leaves nothing to be desired. I think the Cheer Squad is peaking now, and I think the Dance Team has no weak links, which has not always been the case. Also, and this is very important — You CANNOT make any judgments based alone on THIS pictorial. You have to understand that the best, “A” and “B” class photos (approximately 150) from opening day were posted in my previous articles, so what you see here in THIS article is the “C” class photos, which really do not do the girls complete justice. Please peruse the articles that I posted right after the game before you make your final judgment. Thanks.]
