Facebook Fail — Stop trying to “improve” my feed! I already have to scroll past the ubiquitous “sponsored” ADS; I don’t want your “suggested” posts TOO! I just want my friends’ posts, in chronological order, and I want them ALL, not just the ones your algorithms spit out
Change is not always bad. I don’t hate progress. That being said, it seems like every time Social Media giants like Facebook and Instagram make a change, it’s a change for the worse. Often, it’s just a plain ol’ money grab, like increasing the frequency of ADVERTISEMENTS — built right into your feed, masquerading as pertinent content from your friends — to a ludicrous, basically unbearable amount. Other times, it’s adjusting algorithms that screw up what you see, for no apparent reason.
And while I’m on my soapbox, I will rant about something else, and I’m sure this will go over like a lead zeppelin — OKAY… YES it is very sad that a landmark BUILDING with emotional, traditional, and spiritual meaning to millions burned down. BUT… why is the outpouring of thoughts and prayers ten times bigger than when a group of PEOPLE get gunned down??
Sure, I’m saddened by today’s news from Paris, and even though they can RE-BUILD Notre Dame, it will never be the same; But they can’t rebuild slain children, or massacred Muslims, or Jews blown up by missiles and bombs lobbed over the border. So sure, go ahead and mourn an edifice because of its religious and historical significance, but please don’t forget that it’s made out of wood, and save some of your sympathy for future flesh and blood casualties. #perspective Thanks.
Now, since you enjoyed interacting with the previous batch of photos from Bruin day… here is Part 2.
